Hjärtat / My Heart (song translation)
Dec. 2nd, 2025 09:25 pmI wanted to offer a translation of one of my favourite songs by the comedy group Galenskaparna/After Shave.
This song is called "Hjärtat" (lit. 'The Heart'; but 'My Heart fits the English language better).
Unlike most of their songs it's rather earnest and not too humorous. It's played at the end of the movie "Monopol" from 1996. It's sung by Knut Agnred, who also plays the main character, but like most of their work it seems to be written by Claes Eriksson.
The lyrics are quite short and simple, repeating a lot, while still having a hearfelt vibe. If you happen to be learning Swedish (and if the song is to your taste, of course), it might be a good song to listen to.
I have only tried to do a faithful direct translation without trying to make it singable.

Constructive criticism very welcome!
Swedish first:
( Original Swedish lyrics )
Then English:
( My literal English translation )
